This is a description of how the Paceband Generator should work if all goes well. If any of this does not seem to come up the way you expect it is very likely
due to some javascript issues on your computer. Please ensure that you have javascript enabled and that it is normally working well.
Also, the Paceband Generator does not work in the Safari browser. And since I do not have a Mac at home, it is difficult to troubleshoot the problem.
Hence... I am not terribly likely to fix it anytime soon. May I suggest you use
Firefox
instead?
Firefox is a vastly superior browser and is free.

Step 1: Distance - How far is your race?
Select the distance of your race. Full Marathon 26.2 miles / 42.2 kilometers or Half Marathon 13.1 miles / 21.1 kilometers.
I don't think that a paceband is all the useful for shorter distances but if you would like to see one for a 10k race as well, please
let me know and I'll see that I add it.

Step 2: Check that the segment boxes show
Now the "segment boxes" should have shown up. Did they? If not, it is very likely that a javascript error occurred. In that case please check that
normally javascript works on your computer.

Step 3: Units - How is your race measured?
Select Miles or Kilometers based on how the race is measured and what markers you can expect.

Step 4: Goal Time (be realistic here!)
You don't actually have to enter your goal time and can enter the segment times directly if you wish. But this makes it much easier.
Enter your goal time in hours and minutes. As soon as you tab out of the hour or minute field, a suggested pacing for your goal time will show
in the segment boxes below.
This pacing is based on the strategy that our coach Lara Penno uses.
It is based on the idea to go out slower and then pick up the pace after about 3 miles / 5 kilometers. For the marathon distance it also takes into
account that over the 5 miles it is likely that the pace drops a bit. If not and you can hold the pace, GREAT! Bouns at the end.

Step 5: Race Details
If you like to personalize your paceband or if you are making pacebands for other runners you can enter details here.
When done click on the "Make It" button to generate your paceband.

Step 6: Fine tune your paceband
I like to fine tune my paceband to make sure I have reasonably even seconds -- either on the 5's or 10's.
This makes it easier to follow along later in the race when the brain is not working so well anymore :-)
If you want to get the original suggested pacing back, just click on the little check-mark next to the goal time.
